It is my great honor and privilege, as President of the Korean Society for New and Renewable Energy (KSNRE), to extend my warmest welcome to all participants of the 15th Asia-Pacific Forum on Renewable Energy (AFORE 2026). We are delighted to host this distinguished international forum at the Booyoung Hotel & Resort on the beautiful island of Jeju, Republic of Korea, from November 3–7, 2026.

AFORE 2026 convenes at a defining moment for the global energy community. Around the world, energy systems are being reshaped by accelerating climate change, geopolitical uncertainties, evolving supply chains, and rapidly growing electricity demand driven by digitalization and artificial intelligence. These developments have reinforced the urgent need to strengthen energy security while advancing the transition toward carbon-neutral and sustainable energy systems.

Reflecting these global priorities, the theme of AFORE 2026, “The Dual Challenges of Energy Security and Energy Transition,” underscores one of the most pressing responsibilities facing our generation. Achieving reliable, affordable, and clean energy is no longer solely a technological challenge—it requires visionary policies, market innovation, resilient infrastructure, and close international collaboration.

In this endeavor, the renewable energy community has a particularly important role to play. Researchers, engineers, policymakers, and industry leaders are collectively shaping the next generation of energy solutions through advances in solar, wind, ocean energy, bioenergy, hydrogen, energy storage, smart grids, and emerging clean-energy technologies. By fostering innovation and translating scientific achievements into practical solutions, our community can make a decisive contribution to building a more secure, resilient, and sustainable future.

AFORE 2026 has been designed to serve as a premier platform for interdisciplinary dialogue, scientific exchange, and strategic collaboration among experts from academia, industry, research institutions, and government. Throughout the five-day program, participants will share cutting-edge research findings, discuss evolving policy and market developments, and explore innovative technologies that will define the future of renewable energy in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.

To further promote scientific excellence, selected outstanding papers presented at AFORE 2026 will be invited for publication in internationally recognized SCIE-indexed journals through the standard peer-review process.

The world recently has facing quite many abrupt changes almost everyday and they become norm day by day. The very environments we greeted several years ago now become our challenges. The theme of AFORE 2026, “Dual Challenges of Energy Security and Transitions” is a synopsis of the current situation.

AFORE 2026 welcomes professionals and academia to discuss these changes together to seek solutions and to share opinions. It is my great pleasure and honor, as the Chair of the Organizing Committee, to welcome you all to the 15th Asia-Pacific Forum on Renewable Energy (AFORE 2026), to be held from November 3rd to 7th on the beautiful island of Jeju, Republic of Korea.

Building on more than two decades of leadership by the Korean Society for New and Renewable Energy (KSNRE), AFORE has become a trusted platform for advancing regional dialogue and cooperation in renewable and sustainable energy. In this pivotal era of transition and global security concerns, AFORE 2026 aims to serve not only as a platform for sharing cutting-edge researches, but also as a launchpad for collaboration, action, and policy discussions across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.

Korean government just announced “K-GX”, its 10-year plan on green transformation October 7th. Government will invest 1,000 trillion won and industries 220 trillion won as a priming to achieve our goal of carbon-neutral and economic growth together.

It is our sincere hope that the synergy of diverse disciplines—ranging from solar and wind to hydrogen, energy storage, and digital grid integration—will foster bold new ideas and strategic partnerships to accelerate our shared transition to a sustainable future.

Organizing an international forum of this scale requires the dedication and cooperation of many individuals and institutions. Amid growing geopolitical uncertainty, rising energy demand, and the accelerating impacts of climate change, the world must secure a stable and affordable energy supply while advancing the transition toward a low-carbon and sustainable energy system. Meeting these twin challenges requires technological innovation, effective policies, resilient energy infrastructure, and close international cooperation.

AFORE 2026 will present the latest achievements across a broad spectrum of renewable and sustainable energy fields, including photovoltaics, wind energy, hydrogen and fuel cells, bioenergy, geothermal and marine energy, energy storage, smart grids, carbon capture, utilization and storage, and other emerging low-carbon technologies. Through keynote lectures, technical sessions, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, the forum will also explore the policies, market frameworks, digital technologies, and system-integration strategies needed to accelerate renewable energy deployment while strengthening energy security.
